Make It Make Sense
I’m confused. We are dropping $150,000 (twenty-two of them to date) bombs on outboard motored boats and deploying a third of our military to the Caribbean. Each destroyed boat is said to save 25,000 American lives. In 2024, fewer than 25,000 Americans died from cocaine related deaths.
It’s a war on drugs, they say. Somehow, the Honduran drug kingpin and former president, along with a bunch of other drug running hombres, got a pardon. Endless wars are bad and costly, we’re told.
I guess that makes sense, since we invaded Iraq under the guise of weapons of mass destruction. We invaded Afghanistan because the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi. We’re itching to invade Venezuela because they inefficiently deliver cocaine to our shores. But we do nothing to help Ukraine; instead, we yell at their president. I’m sure oil has nothing to do with any of this.
And since we like South America so much, we sent $40B to Argentina who is selling their soybeans to China because we have a trade-war. It appears I don’t understand geo-politics so well.

We are told tariffs don’t raise prices. Yet the prices of many (most?) items imported are more expensive today than last year.
Affordability is a left-wing hoax, and “groceries” is an old-fashioned word. Gas is under $2/gallon, inflation is now zero, and prices are way down, he says.
But we are sending $12B to the farmers because there is a trade war with China who now refuses to buy their soybeans. We were told there was a deal for China to buy 12 million metric tons in November and December but that didn’t happen. China is instead buying their tofu from Argentina, who we just bailed out.
Did you notice the signs at the Trump rally yesterday? It sure looked like they were handed out at the door and said, “Bigger Paychecks.” So, we are asked to believe that prices aren’t higher, everyone is making more money, but bankruptcies are up and people can’t afford their health insurance.
It’s no wonder Trump graded our economy as A+++++.

Patel told Congress to put on their big boy pants and do something about the Epstein Files, which Trump promised to release while campaigning. Bondi, once in office, said they were on her desk, but the binders she gave to her right-wing influencers were essentially empty. Then, they read the files and told the President he was mentioned a few hundred times. So, Speaker Johnson told the House to take a two-month hiatus to prevent a vote to release them.
Hegseth dropped a second bomb on a couple of survivors but only showed the video of the initial strike. Now that his heinous act has been outed, he can’t release the whole video because it might give away sources, methods, and murder. He is reviewing the video, apparently in an infinite loop. For his part, Trump said it would be fine to release the tape but denied saying that the very next day despite there being video evidence.
To hear Karoline Leavitt, his press secretary, this is the most transparent administration of all time. For that to be true, you’d think they’d give up the files and videos instead of telling us there is nothing to see there. It makes you wonder about all the stuff they are hiding.

Authoritarians always seize control of media outlets so that they can control the messages received by their populations. Tell them what you want them to hear and prevent them from learning about stuff that might make you look bad.
Right now, there are attempts at competing hostile takeovers to consolidate our media into the hands of Trump friendly people. At least one has promised Trump that he’ll make some significant changes at CNN, if allowed to make the purchase. Kushner is also in the mix, along with his Middle Eastern moneymen.
We don’t want the Chinese buying our farmland, but it’s going to be okay if the Saudis run our news? We’re told to relax; these mergers are just about entertainment. If so, I guess they’ll start banning movies on top of books.
